Swiss Pivotal Point for Crypto Adoption: Bitcoin Suisse Explains Why

Bitcoin Suisse explains why Switzerland is a major player for cryptocurrency adoption in Europe, with the CEO of the company sharing his insights in an exclusive Davos 2023 interview with Cointelegraph.

Dr. Dirk Klee, CEO of Bitcoin Suisse, believes Switzerland is the “central point of the next stage of institutionalization” when it comes to crypto adoption. He noted that the country will continue to be a major draw for institutional investors.

In a conversation with Cointelegraph reporter Gareth Jenkinson, Klee explained why Switzerland is the ideal place to invest in crypto. “A lot of trust has been destroyed and eroded in the last year and we want to be kind of the focal point of the next stage of institutionalization, you know, making the place more accessible, more user-friendly, but also more secure,” Klee said.

Bitcoin Suisse is one of the oldest crypto firms in the world, having been founded in 2013. The company specializes in asset storage (BTC) with “custodial solutions deep in the Swiss mountains,” according to Klee.

Switzerland is renowned for its friendly stance on cryptocurrencies, with the country being home to the Crypto Valley in the canton of Zug. Lugano, the city that hosts an annual Bitcoin Conference, even has a McDonald’s that accepts Bitcoin Lightning.

Despite its crypto-friendly reputation, Switzerland has been hit by the same market downturn that affected the whole industry in 2022. Klee acknowledged this and said it “destroyed many trusts, and it’s also left many investors in pain.”

Klee concluded by noting that Switzerland remains a “safe place to do business,” citing the country’s strong historical values. Thousands of crypto enthusiasts have flocked to Switzerland for the World Economic Forum, showing that the bear market hasn’t dampened the country’s appeal.
