The 10 most popular cryptocurrency personalities have been determined by CoinLedger after shortlisting CryptoWeekly’s 30 most influential people in cryptocurrency in 2023. The list was compiled by combining their respective social media followings to determine the most widely followed crypto personality worldwide.
The leader of the race, Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, had the most followers with nearly 9.1 million, followed by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin with 7.7 million and Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey with 6.4 million. Following them in fourth and fifth place were MicroStrategy co-founder Michael Saylor with 3.25 million and ARK Invest CEO Cathie Wood with 1.6 million.
Venture capitalists Chamath Palihapitiya and Marc Andreessen occupied sixth and seventh positions, with 1.6 and 1.3 million followers respectively. Barry Silbert of Digital Currency Group and Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong had 1.25 million and 1.2 million followers respectively.
In 10th place was Sam Bankman-Fried, the former CEO and founder of the now-defunct crypto exchange FTX. SBF still has a follower base of 1.06 million across X Instagram, a decade after the collapse of FTX. During this time, his followers increased from roughly 780,000 to over 1.1 million and have settled at the one million mark ever since, according to Socialblade data.
