Elon Musk Reiterates Dogecoin Offer to McDonald’s
Tesla, Spacex And Twitter CEO Elon Musk has reiterated his commitment to eat a McDonald’s Happy Meal on television if the fast-food giant accepts dogecoin (DOGE) payments.
It was back in January 25, 2022 when the billionaire first tweeted his offer. However, McDonald’s declined to accept it at that time. “Only if Tesla accepts grimacecoin,” the fast-food company replied on its Twitter account, referring to Grimace, a purple fuzzy character that accompanies Ronald McDonald in McDonaldland commercials.
This week, the subject was brought up again when Twitter user Dogedesigner asked Musk if his offer was still open. The Tesla boss responded with the 100 Emoji, indicating that he was still upholding his offer.
Following the exchange between McDonald’s and Tesla’s Twitter accounts and Musk in January last year, grimacecoin was born (GRIMACE), a cryptographic token with no relation to either McDonald’s or Musk. As of the writing of this article, each grimacecoin was trading at $0.5879.
Musk, dubbed the Dogefather due to his long-standing support of dogecoin, has already declared that Tesla is accepting DOGE for certain products. His electric car company is also allowing DOGE payments for some of SpaceX’s products, such as the company’s flamethrower and its upcoming spacesuit. Additionally, The Boring Company accepts DOGE for some of its travels.
The billionaire revealed in June last year that he owns bitcoin, ether and dogecoin. As he stated in July, he will keep on supporting DOGE and buying it. In November, he tweeted: “Dogecoin to the Moon.”
