Elon Musk to Develop ‘Truthgpt’: Microsoft-Backed Chatbot Trained to Lie – Technology Bitcoin News

Tech mogul Elon Musk is setting out to create an artificial intelligence (AI) system that will be “truth-seeking” and safe for humankind. Despite being late to the party, the billionaire promised to offer a “third option” that will challenge products from Microsoft and Google.

Musk Condemns Microsoft-Backed Openai, Google Founder Over AI Practices

Entrepreneur Elon Musk recently revealed he plans to launch his own AI that will rival the offerings of large technology corporations. The new platform, which he referred to as “Truthgpt,” will focus on understanding the universe without endangering humanity.

Speaking to Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, Musk lambasted Openai, the developer of the Chatgpt chatbot, for “teaching the AI to lie.” He also noted that the company is now a “closed-source”, “for-profit” venture in which “Microsoft has a very strong say.”

In 2015, Elon Musk co-founded Openai “to serve as a counterweight to Google.” In the interview aired on Monday, the billionaire also criticized Larry Page, the co-founder of the tech giant, for not taking AI safety seriously.

Musk recently joined a group of AI experts and executives who warned about potential risks to society and called for a six-month suspension in the development of systems that are more powerful than Openai’s GPT-4 model. “AI is more dangerous than, say, mismanaged aircraft design or production maintenance or bad car production,” he told Carlson.

“I’m going to initiate something which I call ‘Truthgpt,’ or an AI that seeks to understand the nature of the universe,” the owner of Tesla elaborated. He also said that his AI platform “may be the best path to safety” that would be “unlikely to annihilate humans,” according to excerpts quoted by Reuters.

Sources familiar with the plan have told the news agency that Musk has been recruiting AI researchers from Google to launch an AI startup. Even though he admits he’s starting late, he insisted he “will attempt to create a third option” after Openai’s Chatgpt and Google’s Bard. In March, the investor registered a company called X.AI Corp in Nevada.
