Fantom (FTM) co-founder Andre Cronje is rumored to be launching a cryptocurrency-friendly bank at the end of this year.
Cronje shared On his Twitter account that the bank offering crypto-related financial products may be available by the end of 2023.
“Can you get a card, or just payments infrastructure? If the latter, I can add you to our closed beta. If card, that should come available within this year, with a crypto-friendly bank to the public soon.”
Although, Cronje noted That US citizens may be excluded due to the anti-crypto stance of US regulators.
“Legally we can, but given the US’s attitude, we probably won’t accept citizens of the US.”
Cronje elaborated That the services are subject to Know-Your-Customer (KYC) guidelines and traditional financial service regulations.
“No, it’s a standard banking license, we can’t get around KYC.”
The news of the banking plans was revealed in response to a tweet Curve Finance CEO and founder Michael Egorov Claiming that the Financial Technology Company Revolut Had blocked his account after he revealed that his funds came from crypto.
“Recently found out in practice that the Revolut App is not crypto-friendly. Have been their customer since 2016, but they shut down my personal and business accounts after they found out (from me) that the source of my funds was crypto.”
