Federated Learning Consortium Launches in Hong Kong, Led by Phoenix and APEX Technologies – Press Release

PRESS RELEASE. The Privacy-enabled, decentralized Artificial Intelligence (AI) group has taken more than 12 months of planning and restructuring. The Federated Learning Consortium (FLC) will now become a non-profit research consortium. This is a shift from earlier focus on commercial operations. FLC will soon be led by Keystone’s founding members: Phoenix blockchain expertise platform, China-based and APEX Technologies, a consumer-data and major AI company. APEX is based in the United States.

FLC’s mission is to create, promote, and explore cutting-edge technologies around federated AI. This includes federated learning, multiparty computing (MPC), TEE, and blockchain-enabled AI. (Trusted Execution Environment). The group will be particularly interested in combining deep learning technologies from large data sets, such as reinforcement learning, with high-performance infrastructures leveraging GPU computing using a decentralized/federated approach.

Organizational AI-related companies, Blockchain businesses and system integrators will be eligible for membership. The aim is to be able to provide holistic, high-performance solutions for the wider market that were initially targeted. Asia and China. Through FLC, Organizations will be able to offer new technology solutions through internal partnerships and joint research projects.

Individual Academics and industry experts can also become members. Currently FLC already maintains a preliminary roster of leading federated-learning and machine-learning experts. China-based companies such as HuaAT (华院数据), FuData (富数科技) and Tencent.

FLC will offer technology solutions for a variety of verticals including but not limited to retail, financial services, automotive, IoT, asset management and government.
