Saudi Arabia Airport floor services provider Saudi Ground Services has announced plans to implement a blockchain-based document platform that will enable it to “issue more than 10,000 digital documents yearly, including licenses”. According to the firm, Ayman AlghamdiSGS will be able to use this platform to verify documents and licenses. It also allows customers to enhance their experience.
Resolving Document Verification Issues
Saudi Airports ground services provider Saudi Ground Services (SGS) recently declared that it will implement a Blockchain Document Platform at 28 Airports in Saudi Arabia. In a joint announcement with IR4LAB, an innovation-driven company based out of Saudi ArabiaSGS said that the platform is called Doc Certs Blockchain Management and will enable it to “issue more than 10,000 digital documents annually, including licenses”.
Commenting on the deal, Ayman AlghamdiSGS’s vice president of human resources described the announcement of this deal as a landmark moment for the firm and the aviation industry.
“We are delighted to announce this innovative platform at LEAP 2023. This is a historic moment and is the first initiative of its kind in the aviation industry. SGS serves more than 88 million passengers on 690,000 flights a year,” Alghamdi said.
Alghamdi added that the blockchain platform can be used at Saudi SGS to authenticate documents and licenses at airports.
Collaboration Between Blockchain Startups and Established Companies
For his part, Majd Jamal AlafifiIR4LAB’s CEO and co-founder described the SGS deal as a “successful collaboration” between blockchain startups and established local companies “in adopting new technologies like blockchain.” .”
The CEO expressed hope that IR4LAB (which is described as Saudi Oil giant Aramco’s “first blockchain investment in Saudi Arabia,”) will make similar deals with other local companies.
