The Ethereum Network is preparing for its fourth hard fork, known as Spurious Dragon, to occur at block number 2,675,000. Scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 22nd between 15:00 and 16:30 UTC, the hard fork will introduce several protocol changes which include protection against replay attacks and adjustments to the cost of opcodes.
To be in sync with the new rules of the hard fork, users of Ethereum clients should make sure they have the most recent version installed. Third-party mobile or web-based wallets will also need to check their providers’ actions to update the hard fork, and may require users to take additional steps.
The hard fork is the second of two-round responses to DoS attacks on the Ethereum Network in September and October. The first hard fork, Tangerine Whistle, stopped immediate network issues caused by the attacks. The upcoming hard fork along with additional changes to the network will help further protect against future DoS attacks.
