This included analysis by blockchain researchers and software security companies, comprehensive audits by a world-class security firm, and a crowdsourced bug bounty program. The These audits have included gas economics and a proof-of-work puzzle, as well as an economic incentive to mine nodes.

In addition, an additional software security firm was hired to conduct additional audits. A customer audit, also known as an end-to-end audit, was also conducted. This included testing of networks, Ethereum Virtual Machine, and the proof-of-work synchronization layer. Developers have also been involved in bug fixing, regression testing, and related refactoring.
The Olympic Testing phase was also conducted to ensure resilience in different situations such as slow connections and bad partners. Ethereum also has a bug bounty program, which rewards those who discover bugs in the code. This strategy has been put in place to ensure that multiple clients have been audited before launch.
