IOTA’s ShimmerEVM Integrates LayerZero for Cross-Chain Communication

Published:

IOTA’s ShimmerEVM has recently integrated with LayerZero to bring cross-chain messaging technology to its users. According to an announcement made on December 27, this move will allow users to interact and transact across multiple networks within the Shimmer ecosystem.

Shimmer is a blockchain platform within the IOTA ecosystem from where developers can build and deploy decentralized applications (dApps), with access to features currently unavailable on IOTA’s mainnet. LayerZero, an omnichain interoperability protocol, provides the cross-chain messaging technology for ShimmerEVM, enabling communication across different blockchains.

Following the collaboration, ShimmerEVM can now connect with major blockchains such as Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, Binance Smart Chain, Optimism, Arbitrum, Fantom, and Base. This extended interoperability will facilitate the exchange of assets and information, paving the way for a new era of DeFi within the ShimmerEVM ecosystem.

The integration with LayerZero is an important step for ShimmerEVM and comes shortly after LayerZero’s collaboration with Blockdaemon and the news of a potential LayerZero token launch in 2024.
