Mastercard and Polygon Team Up to Help Emerging Artists Utilize Web3 Technology – Blockchain News

Published:

Payments Giant Mastercard has joined forces with Polygon, a scalable Ethereum Platform, to help emerging artists take advantage of Web3 technology. The Mastercard Artist Accelerator program, also known as ‘The Program’, will teach five up-and-coming singers, musicians, DJs, and producers how to leverage blockchain tools for their brand promotion and fan engagement.

Mastercard and Polygon Collaboration to Teach Web3 Benefits

Financial services companies are examining the potential uses of blockchain technology in various areas. Mastercard, one of the most prominent payment companies, has now teamed up with Polygon, an Ethereum-based scaling platform, to introduce five upcoming artists to the advantages that Web3 technology can bring to them.

Mastercard’s Artist Accelerator Program will use the Polygon Network to teach the chosen artists how they can create their own non-fungible token (NFT) collections, ramp up their fan engagement, and attend virtual concerts in metaverses. Autonomy and self-determination appear to be the main aims of the program, with Polygon Studios CEO Ryan Watts commenting:

Web3 can enable a completely different type of artist. They can construct a following, make a living, and provide new ways to communicate and connect with others.

Web3 and Music

The association between Mastercard and music is nothing new. The firm is the official sponsor of the Grammys, and even produced their own album in 2022. It is clear that decentralized technology has a major role to play in the advancement of today’s artists, as Mastercard CMO Raja Rajamannar explained:

Music is a universal passion that inspires us, moves us, and brings us together; however, it can seem impossible for up-and-coming artists to break through.

The five artists who will be part of the program are still to be chosen, but applications are now open. The program will launch in Spring 2023, and will be open to fans who want to join the artists in the learning process.
