Cryptocurrency markets kicked off 2023 with a surge in non-fungible token (NFT) sales. Figures show that in the first week of the year, 7-day volume increased by 26.01%, equating to an impressive $208.99 million.
Bored Ape Yacht Club Leads the Way, with a 52.82% Increase in Sales Over the Previous Week
Analysts from Cryptoslam report that the NFT sector saw 1.2 million transactions from 748 buyers. Of these transactions, 19 different blockchain networks were involved. Ethereum had the lion’s share of NFT sales, capturing $164.35 million. Other networks that experienced increases were Solana (+28.8%), Immutable X (+20.83%), Cardano (+35.97%) and BNB (+171.35%).
In the top five NFT sales list, Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) led the way with $19,052,102 in sales, up 52.82% from the previous week. BAYC was followed by Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC), Azuki, Bored Ape Kennel Club (BAKC) and The Captainz. In terms of seven-day NFT sale per collection, Mineablepunks and Cryptopunks were sixth and seventh respectively.
The most expensive NFTs sold in the week were from the Mineablepunks collection, with #11,467 and #11,755 topping the list at $11,467 each. The Mineablepunks collection saw $5,498,938 in sales, representing a 49.50% rise from the previous week. Meanwhile, BAYC NFTs had a minimum value of 81.49 ether on 8 January 2022, while Cryptopunks had a value of 66.688 ether on Sunday afternoon.
