“Sui Welcomes DePIN and DeWi in Revolutionary Partnership with Karrier One, Anticipated Token Release”

Published:

Markham, Ontario – January 11th, 2024 – In a strategic partnership, Sui and Karrier One are joining forces to expand the use of decentralized technology in the telecom industry. This collaboration will not only showcase the potential of decentralized technology, but also provide access to the digital world for underserved populations.

As part of this partnership, Sui will make a strategic investment in Karrier One, which will help fund the expansion of their Decentralized Physical Infrastructure (DePIN) technology. This integration of advanced telecom services with web3 technology will greatly enhance connectivity and accessibility for users.

The technical integration of this partnership will involve DePIN services powered by the Sui blockchain and the launch of a Karrier One Decentralized Wireless (DeWi) network token on Sui. Contributors and participants in the Karrier One ecosystem will also have the opportunity to earn DeWi tokens for various activities, such as deploying radios and using Karrier One phone numbers.

This partnership not only introduces a governance token, but also expands the Karrier ecosystem with a variety of utilities accessed and consumed through fungible tokens and NFTs. For example, universal phone numbers will be sold on the network and secured by NFTs using the Karrier Number System (KNS). This system prioritizes self-sovereign digital identity, safeguards user data, and enhances digital security.

One of the key features of the KNS will be the integration of zkLogin, a fundamental Sui primitive that streamlines user interactions by allowing web3 authentication with familiar web2 credentials. This means users can log in with Google or Facebook to generate a self-custodial wallet secured by zero-knowledge proofs.

Combining KNS with zkLogin on Sui allows for end users to transact in web3 using their telephone numbers, eliminating the need for a crypto-native wallet. Karrier One phone numbers will be distributed with these integrations as a default option, and users will even be able to transfer their numbers from other carriers to enjoy the benefits of KNS and zkLogin.

For the first time, users will be able to specify an address on the network using a phone number, and securely and privately send and receive digital assets via text message without setting up a wallet.

Karrier One is already a leader in DePIN technology, and the investment from Sui will help expand their offerings, such as retail radio deployments and innovative mobile phone plans, along with KNS. This will provide vital infrastructure to underserved areas and monetize unused wireless spectrum, promoting sustainable economic growth and inclusive connectivity.

CEO of Karrier One, Samer Bishay, stated, “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with the Sui Foundation. This collaboration is a major step towards expanding our reach in telecommunications. Our goal has always been to ensure that connectivity is universally accessible, affordable, and sustainable. Sui’s parallelized transactions and efficient on-chain data storage, along with their superior processing capacity, align perfectly with our mission.”

Managing Director of the Sui Foundation, Greg Siourounis, commented, “Our collaboration with Karrier One demonstrates our commitment to using decentralized technologies for a more inclusive and interconnected future. By developing the DePIN network on Sui, Karrier One is leveraging scalability, security, and efficiency unmatched by existing platforms, moving us forward towards a future where this technology is a catalyst for positive change.”

This partnership also reflects the teams’ shared commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), focusing on Quality Education, Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and Sustainable Cities and Communities. Karrier One’s presence at the COP 28 conference in Dubai in 2023 showcased their dedication to sustainable practices and growing influence in the UAE and on the global stage.

The partnership between Karrier One and Sui represents their united vision of using decentralized technology for societal and environmental betterment. It is expected to accelerate the deployment of DeWi solutions and make a substantial contribution to worldwide efforts for a sustainable, inclusive, and connected future.
