Team Liquid and Illuvium Forge Partnership to Bring Blockchain Game to Masses

Illuvium, a decentralised gaming platform available on Ethereum, has partnered with esports giants Team Liquid to limit-test the Early Access Release of its Illuvium: Arena game. Announced this week, Illuvium said the partnership with Team Liquid is a crucial step in bringing mainstream gaming to blockchain.

Team Liquid is the world’s best esports squad with over $47 million in prize money. Illuvium is the top GameFi project in the crypto gaming sector.

Eight Team Liquid streamers will explore and test the Illuvium: Arena game’s competitive modes including Auto Battler and Overworld. Specialising in Teamfight Tactics, Hearthstone and League of Legends, they will be showcasing Arena’s competitive mode to their audience. It is believed this integration will help to correct “the perception that blockchain games do fall short of the quality and allure of traditional AAA titles”.

Kieran Warwick, Co-founder and CEO of Illuvium, commented on the partnership with Team Liquid and what it means for blockchain gaming:

“Overcoming the scepticism around blockchain games is crucial, and the way forward is by delivering exceptional gaming experiences. Our collaboration with Team Liquid is a significant milestone in demonstrating that blockchain games, including those with NFTs, can offer engaging and deep gameplay experiences on par with traditional games”.

Illuvium’s gaming universe combines immersive gaming with the benefits of Decentralised Finance (DeFi), Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and a gaming world that has embraced the use of cryptocurrency. This includes Illuvium: Zero, Illuvium: Overworld, Illuvium: Beyond and Illuvium: Arena.

Players can trade in-game assets for real-world currency on the gaming platform’s marketplace IlluviDEX and the ImmutableX layer-2 platform allows peer-to-peer trading with zero gas charges.

Fans now have the chance to purchase Illuvitars – limited-edition Team Liquid digital collectibles. These collectibles allow players to unlock exclusive in-game features and are available from December 12th.

This release is the result of three years’ development and $60,000,000 investment. It can be found on the EPIC store, joining mainstream titles such as Fortnite, Destiny 2 and Assasin’s Creed.
