Testnet Participants to Receive 3% of Namada Shielded Expedition Token Supply

Namada, the proof-of-stake Layer 1 blockchain protocol developed by the Anoma Foundation, is ramping up for its mainnet launch in early 2024 with their “Namada Shielded Expedition.” This incentivized testnet promises participants 3% of the total token supply as rewards, and it’s an exciting way to engage users in a multiplayer role-playing game while rigorously testing the network’s capabilities.

This innovative testnet offers an “Asteroid Mining Competition,” which challenges participants, including validators and users, to accrue ROID points by navigating the intricacies of Namada’s consensus algorithm, CometBFT, and proving its resistance against Sybil attacks. A total of 30 million NAM tokens, or 3% of Namada’s total token supply, are up for grabs.

In addition to the testnet, Namada also announced a community airdrop, allocating 65 million tokens (6.5% of the total supply) for researchers, developers, and stakers on Cosmos Hub and Osmosis blockchains.

These initiatives, coupled with Namada’s proof-of-stake Layer 1 blockchain, which features asset-agnostic multichain privacy and a native Ethereum bridge, demonstrate the company’s commitment to refining its protocol and building a robust and innovative blockchain ecosystem.

The Namada Shielded Expedition testnet runs throughout January, offering users a chance to test and contribute to the network’s refinement. With the mainnet launch on the horizon, Namada’s initiatives are an exciting way to get involved and explore the blockchain’s features.
