Ticketmaster Unveils NFT-Based Ticketing Service for Avenged Sevenfold Performances – Bitcoin News

Published:

Ticketmaster, the worldwide event ticketing provider, has recently unveiled a new token-gated sales service allowing fans access to concerts using non-fungible token (NFT) technology. The first band to take advantage of this service is the metal group Avenged Sevenfold (A7X), who previously released a “Deathbats Club” NFT collection giving members exclusive early access to the group’s shows in Los Angeles and New York City.

Ticketmaster Introduces Token-Gated Sales for NFT Access to Concerts

On March 27th, Ticketmaster announced the launch of a token-gated ticketing service, with the metal act Avenged Sevenfold (A7X) being the first band to trial the system. “We’ve built on our NFT capabilities and now allow artists to offer token-gated ticket sales – meaning that a sale can only be unlocked or accessed with a specific NFT,” the company detailed in a press release.

A7X had previously released an NFT collection called “Deathbats Club”, with the NFTs giving owners access to buy tickets to the shows in Los Angeles and New York before the general public. The team at Bitflips worked together with Ticketmaster to make this functionality possible, and the ticketing provider built and launched the token-gated service for A7X in order to offer their fan community with first access to tickets for the upcoming shows.

Ticketmaster’s EVP of Global Music, David Marcus, commented on the new service stating that it “allows artists to get special access and rewards to specific fans they want to super-serve.” He added: “Artists like Avenged Sevenfold are using Web3 and NFTs to build deeper relationships with their fans, and we’re proud to help foster that connection through live events.”

Ticketmaster has been known to have intentions to get involved with NFT technology for quite some time. Back in August, the event ticketing company revealed that it was working with the Flow blockchain. On Monday, the firm commented that the token-gated sale service is only one of several “tech solutions that artists can use to get their tickets to their fans.” Additionally, Ticketmaster noted that their token-gated sales are Ethereum compatible and work with Web3 wallets like Metamask and Coinbase.
