US Senator Supports Crypto Transactions

US Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) recently reintroduced the initiative to accept cryptocurrency. The initial resolution was proposed in November 2021. The Texas Senator said:

Cryptocurrency is creating jobs, inspiring inventors to come up with new values, and providing new hedges against inflation, as well as presenting new alternatives. It can also be used as a secure method of payment for goods and services.

“That is why we here at the United States Capitol should increase accessibility and demonstrate our support for the rapidly growing cryptocurrency industry for those who come to the Capitol,” He added.

Senator Cruz proposed that the bill would “require the Architect of the Capitol, the Secretary of the Senate, and the Administrative Director of the House of Representatives to encourage Capitol Hill gift shops to accept cryptocurrency as a type of payment.” Furthermore, he suggested that they “enter into contracts with vendors who accept cryptocurrency as payment for food services and vending machines within the Capitol complex.”

Cruz further noted:

The added benefit of using cryptocurrency for payment is actually giving international tourists who come to our nation’s capital each year a safe option without having to incur expensive and sometimes inconvenient foreign exchange fees.

The pro-bitcoin senator has long held a positive view of the cryptocurrency. In May He expressed his pleasure with the performance of Bitcoin over the past 12 months. “incredibly bullish” Bitcoin. “I have a weekly purchase that is an automatic purchase every week of bitcoin because I believe in dollar cost averaging,” He stated at the time.

Senator Cruz also introduced a bill in April to prevent the Federal Reserve from creating a direct-to-consumer central bank digital currency. “that could be used as a surveillance tool by the federal government, similar to what is currently taking place in China,” Cruz said.
