Shiba Inu (SHIB) and Viction (VIC) could soon have access to .shib and .vic internet domain names, thanks to a partnership with domain name firm D3 Global. The application for the domain names could see the Shiba Inu and Viction ecosystems expand to global users, with the aim of applying and obtaining the TLDs during ICANN’s next window.
D3 Global announced the exclusive partnerships with Shiba Inu and Viction via a press release shared with CoinJournal. According to the firm, the .shib and .vic domains could open up the cryptocurrency platforms to more people, while also providing greater interoperability for Web2 and Web3.
The D3 partnership will see Shiba Inu and Viction access its patent-pending platform to access the benefits of “real Web3 domains.” D3 CEO Fred Hsu commented on the partnership and what it means for Web3, saying: “Our vision is to make Web3 more accessible, transparent, scalable and secure by building futureproof, interoperable digital identities with DNS at the foundation.”
Shiba Inu had previously announced its Shib Name Service (SNS) in late October, bringing human-readable addresses to Shibarium. The alliance with D3 will see the transition to the internet domain provider’s platform, making .shib names available to internet users across the world.
“Our partnership with D3 allows us to scale outside of the existing #ShibArmy and give over 5 billion Internet users direct access to the SHIB ecosystem,” said Shytoshi Kusama, Lead Developer of Shiba Inu. “Bringing real domains to SHIB is a big deal, expanding our vision for digital identities within our decentralized ecosystem, while driving long-term revenue generation within the ecosystem.”
