The state of Virginia has proposed a budget of $17,192 for the Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Commission in both 2025 and 2026. This allocation is part of a larger effort to support the state’s involvement with emerging technologies, as stated in a report released on Sunday.

In addition to the funding for the Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Commission, the state has also designated $22,048 annually for the Artificial Intelligence Commission and $12,090 annually for the Virginia Autism Advisory Council. These funds will be distributed among various state commissions.

The Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Commission, which was established during the 2024 legislative session and now falls under the legislative branch, consists of 15 members. The commission’s main focus is to conduct research and provide recommendations on blockchain technology, which is the foundation of cryptocurrencies, and digital assets.

The allocated funds will mainly cover operational expenses, such as travel costs for meetings. This will allow the commission to effectively carry out its duties and responsibilities.
