Vueling Airlines of Spain are now allowing customers to make payments using cryptocurrencies.
The Low-cost carrier is now the first low-cost airline in Europe to accept crypto payments after announcing its intentions last summer.
The new service will be offered through its website in the second half of 2023.
Vueling has partnered with Criptan, a registered national exchange with the Bank of Spain, to process and complete customers orders using crypto.
Veuling Alliance And Distribution Manager, Jesús Monzo, said: “This agreement places us at the forefront of new technologies and innovation, further reinforcing our commitment to our customers and offering the best and most advanced tools and solutions in our website”.
Jorge Soriano, CEO of Criptan, commented that the company is “convinced” crypto payments can enhance user experience.
The System adopted by Vueling UATP technology, which is a global payment network for airlines worldwide, will be used. At this time, it is uncertain which cryptocurrencies Vueling will accept.
