Worldcoin Launches World App to Accelerate Decentralized Identity and Finance Adoption

Published:

Worldcoin has announced the launch of their new World App on May 8, 2023. The application, which is backed by Sam Altman, CEO of Openai, is designed to democratize decentralized identities and finance. The World App will feature a crypto wallet with Worldcoin’s native token, as well as bitcoin (BTC) and ethereum (ETH).

The application utilizes World ID, an identification protocol that is resistant to AI manipulation, and employs zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs that are linked to biometric data scans. Over 1.5 million people have already joined the World App’s beta phase, and the app is now available in more than 80 countries.

The World App is available on both iOS and Android operating systems and was developed by Tools For Humanity (TFH). TFH is a technology company that is dedicated to using Worldcoin technology to ensure a more just economic system.

The collection of iris scans used in the World App has raised privacy concerns, as biometric information is highly personal and unique to each individual.
